Dear Canon,
I have been a very good person and a passable birder and I have tried to not be a menace to society. Please send one 800mm telephoto lens as soon as possible for my inspection and approval.
Thank you,
Dave Lewis
PS- You can contact me through this blog, or ask the CIA, I think they have my current address.
I'm sure even with a bigger lens, I would STILL end up with more than my share of butt shots.
So, after posting such crappy peep pics, I thought I would show you a few that I've shot over the past couple years of Sandpipers that have come close enough to get in focus shots! Wow, and some of them are actually in sand too! Go figure...
When the lens arrives, I'll let you know...
PS- A special thank you and hello to Kimmay and all of our buddies at Black Swamp Bird Observatory!
Dave....you're in rare form tonight. Funny!!! This one cracked me up: "You can tell this is a Solitary Sandpiper because it's the only one in this photo. And because I said so." ("Stare Spot, stare!" as well.) Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, you should be on the Comedy Network!Butta Bing!
ReplyDeleteHi Dave,
ReplyDeleteYou know what, I have to tell you something... Christmas, it is in 4 months, so i do not think that the 800mm lens is gonna come before that ;-)
Anyway, I do not think you need such a lens, your shots are beautiful and getting too close does not give nice pictures i think. I love the birds in their environment, and remember these lens are damned heavy!!
You just slay me...love the right-winger shot and the "least" shot esp., but love seeing all the shore bird pics. Another fun post, thanks for the smile! :o) << see?
ReplyDeleteOh I hear you on lens situ! The "butt" shot of the Least Sandpiper is brilliant. "Walk on by" sung by Dionne Warwick sprung to mind with this shot. Wonderful photos and the captions bring them home!
